The University of Liverpool Creative Writing Society for Lifelong Learning - the 2nd Annual Ted Walters International Short Story and Poetry Competition. Deadline 31st May 2008.

First novel competition

The Mail on Sunday run an annual competition for first-time novellists.  It’s open to anyone eligible in the UK or Republic of Ireland, and the publishing deal could be worth £30,000.

Short story competition

The Brian Moore short story awards, run by the Creative Writers Network in Belfast, are this year open to anyone in Ireland or of Irish descent.
The deadline is 31st January 2008 with an entry fee of £5 per story; this year’s contest is judged by Glenn Patterson.
